Who will be driving these.

I wonder who will drive these cars. I know a lot of celebrities our interested in them. They are almost the I-pod of vehicles. They're just plain cool. We rich people even buy them. Or will only poor people, or middle class. They are cheep enough. I wonder if it will be like the video game systems. It's hard to find a Wii gaming console. This is august now, and you still can't find them in the local Wal-marts. Will it be one of those cars you can never get? Will dealers offer premium prices because you can't get them. I wonder who long they will take before you can go to the car lot and just get one. I believe they have reserved more cars then they even thought they would sell in one year. But I wonder how many have reserved them, but my not be able to afford them. Or I should say, Financially set to get one. Financial situations change. Family emergencies, and unexpected expenses.

My biggest problem...

My biggest problem with the down payment will be my daughters braces. My daughter is a very pretty girl, but she needs work on her teeth. Her first dentist appointment was today. She didn't have any cavities, which I'm really glad. But, she needs 4 teeth pulled. Because her baby teeth came in crooked. It looks like they might have to pull four of the teeth, and then use braces to straighten them. I hope we can fix her pretty smile. The cost of the dentist could cause me not to get my Smart Car, but I'm not going to rule it out yet.

I wonder...

I wonder if parking lots will create new parking spaces for small cars. Like they do now for motorbikes. It would be nice to have parking spots for smaller cars. It would be to the advantage of the store, because it would provide more parking for patrons. I really think someday you will see lots of these smart cars in one parking space.

When I first started computers and left my first message on a BBS, Bulletin Board System. It sorta like a Forum of today, but only one person could log into the network at a time. I predicted then, someday, thousands would communicate this way. I'm predicting that there will be hundreds of smart cars, or cars that are similar. Mock my words.

Trouble Saving

I'm not able to save for the down payment. With the recent purchase of the house and having to buy braces for my daughter, I am unable to save for my Smart Car. I don't want to get my reservation money back, I'm hoping I will eventually get the car. If I can't get the car when it first arrives, I will eventually get it.

The Yugo vs Smart Car

Why is this car different then the Yugo? The Yogo was to be a car that would be cheap, and good on gas milage. It would be affordable for everyone. Isn't that what the smart car is? The Yugo was a 4 seater. I haven't compared horsepower between the smart car and the Yugo, but I bet its not much differnet. So why is it that there is so much hype? I think its because it cool looking. The Yugo wasn't cool. A lot of comedians made fun of it. People didn't want to be seen driving it. There were other small cars that look like it, but was priced higher and built better. The Smart Car is different. It has the cool factor going for it. Like the I-Pod or anyother Apple toy.

There is so much I don't know about this car.

I've been thinking about how much I don't know about this car. So much I have to learn. Like, how big is the gas tank? I had a Susuki Sidekick when it first came out. I loved that car. I kept it for years. But, it had a small gas tank. About 9.5 gallons. I had to stop for gas all the time. But it only got about 23 miles to the gallon. The Smart ForTwo car is going to be about 40 miles to the gallon. but I can't imagine it having a big tank. The Car is designed for small trips, and not commuting very far. I wonder how many other things I don't know about it. I plan on reading up on it, eventually.

As Time Goes On

The smart for two, will be a nice car for the united states. Especially on crowded streets. I wish people would get a tax break for buying one, like they did for the Toyota Prius. I think it would help sales of the new car, and increase the average gas mileage for car. Meaning, If more people would get 40 miles to the gallon, then the average miles per gallon would increase too. I really have high hopes for this car. And you know the American way, if it makes it big, then you will see more of them, and copy cats too. Just like SUV's. As people started to drive more SUV, more SUV were being made. They all look different, but they are still SUV's. I wouldn't be surprised if Honda, Toyota, and Ford doesn't come out with them too.

My Credit.

As I've said before, I'm not sure I can afford a loan yet. I put $99 down and reserved my Smart Car, but I'm not sure I can afford it yet. With the divorce and buying a new house, I'm not sure I can swing the loan. I just bought a copy of my credit report, and I am surprised on how in accurate it is. I'm going to spend the next few months and see if I can get it corrected. I noticed credit cards that are close report a balance. One credit car even shows $1 as a balance. Where it should be marked close. Also, one of my credit cards, my ex-wife owns. I need to get that removed so my credit will improve. I hope I can make a difference before the car comes available. But I know these cards do not report fast, and what the car loan bank will see is old data sometimes. But if I don't get a car when they first comes out, my goal is to get one no matter how long it takes.

Is it big enouph?

I told my friend I was going to buy a smart car, he's the friend that introduced me to the smart. He really likes the smart car, but he has a family and needs more space for car seats. This car is not a family car. I would have to say it is for those who often travel in a car by themselves. I Have a two seater truck right now. Usually I only need one other seat. If there are more people, I usually ride with someone else. Is that taking advantage of other people? But, why should I get a car that holds 4 people, if 99% of the time I drive by myself? Most people don't seem to mind if I go with them. Usually they like to dirve. If I'm taking one other person, I offer to drive all the time. I don't think it would be much different, except, I think in this car people would like to ride in it. I think it will be a novelty for time to come. Big cars have been a big part of American life style. This is sure going to shake things up!

WII Commercial.

Just saw the Wii Commercial with the Smart ForTwo car. I love the way they make it look like a toy. I love the white and blue colors. I still think the red is better, but it sure does look good in blue. To tell the truth, I had problem picking a color, because I like them all.

Does anyone else the the SmartUSA web page could be done better. I've seen a lot of other web pages for cars that look better. I can't wait to see what others do. It will be great once auto parts accessories stores carry things for the Smart Cars. I think it will be allot like the I-POD, you will be able to find accessories every where. I really think the Smart Car is going to be the next big thing. As gas prices go up, I think you will see more smart cars.

Just look on how many Prius cars there are. I think you will see them everywhere.

My Smart Car Reservation Fee

Today, my Smart Car Reservation fee was subtracted from my account, finally. I believe this is more my bank, then SmartCar.usa. It took 5 days. But, its nice to know they have my $99.00 now, and I am on my way to getting my car. I think my biggest hurdle will be getting a loan. Just starting a new job, getting divorced, and buying a house, it may not be the best time to get a loan. But, that is why I want a car under 15,000. I'm hoping to save enough for the down payment, so my monthly payments will be lower. My truck won't last long, the summer heat seems to be really hard on it.

What about theft?

I am worried about car theft with this new Smart Car. I think an investment into an alarm system is in order. At first when there wont be many on the road and your car would be easy to spot. But later when there are thousands on the road, I think it would be hard to spot. Just like any new car. But what makes this car different then all the others, is that the color panels, that give the car color are removable and changeable. A Red car can become a blue car with a kit, in about an hour. So when the cops are looking for a red car, in fact they may have to look for a blue car.

I think a GPS like in OnStar should be an option. That way you can locate the car by GPS. I would really like to see the stats, if this technology works, or is the GPS disabled by the thieves which make the device useless.

Smart Car Of America

I found a good forum: SmartCarOfAmerica.com. It's a great site for Smart Car fans to talk about your favorite car. Its a cobination of fact and rumors. I've only been a fan for 3 days, but I'm hooked. I've left a couple of post under Seeburg200 user name. There is a lot of good information on the test drives going on around the USA. It's a great place to ask questions to people who have one, or been around them.

I asked a question about car insurance, and a user alejake says he pays $38 a month, $456 a year with a 500 deductiable. No body can say that is what they will pay when the new models come out, but I think it gives you an idea about how much it costs. I'm hoping more people will add there 2 cents worth too.

The only think I don't like is that, I used a signature as: Ron@mysmartpassion.com. They sent me an email saying I broke a big rule of advertising on their site, so they removed my signature. They then asked me if I wanted to advertise on thier site. I don't see what the big deal is. If it is a valid email address. But, I guess they are more into money then they are really helping Car enthusiest get in touch with each other. I do admit that it would be nice to have people see my address and then come to see my blog, but the main reason was so that people could answer me directly, just in case people didn't want to answer to the forum. Oh well.

I wonder what Insurance Cost.

Got an Email From Smart USA

Two days ago I reserved my smart with a credit card for $99.00. I could have sent a check, but I didn't want to wait that long. I don't know if the orders will be placed by first come first server priority, and I didn't want to take a chance. Here it is two days later, my account still doesn't reflect the $99.

I did get an Email right after I reserved it confirming my order with a conformation number I am supposed to save. I got an email today thanking me for my reservation from Roger Penske. (As if he really emailed me. LOL) But, it does serve a purpose. I know they got my order, and they are probably charging my $99.00 today.

The letter reminds me to keep the original email, for continuing communications with them. It also states the same things the web page says. "The smart USA team will continue to send you monthly updates on the smart fortwo, including information on vehicle features and accessories, the dealer network, and the US Road Show. Be sure to follow the tour map that we will post in late spring to our website. When the Road Show stops in your city, you will be invited to attend exclusive information sessions and test drives of the new fortwo. It will be an exciting chance to get up close and personal with the new fortwo." (I'm sure glad Roger had time to email me.)

I'm trying in my head to figure out how big is a smart car. I try to compare it to other cars. I watched all the videos on You Tube, but its better to compare it against something real. I understand it is 3 feet smaller then a Mini. But since I've heard that, I haven't been able to find a mini. Isn't that funny how that happens. When you don't want to find something, you see them all the time, and when you do you can't find them at all.

Is it Cool?

Now that I am single, and recently divorced. I must decide if the Smart Car is cool for a 47 year old. I could buy a small 2 seater sports car. A babe magnet. But, I like the look of the Smart Car, but how women will take the little car on a date? That is still to be determine.

I work with a lot of computer geeks. Is the Smart Car cool enough for computer geeks? I haven't told my friends yet, that I love this car. I will eventually, but I rather wait till Smart Inc. calls and I finance the car. Once you buy a car, people tend not to try to talk you out of it. But it is human nature to give your two cents worth. I rather wait till the deal is final so I don't have to defend my decision.

I'm looking forward to driving it around town. I was one of the first to buy a Suzuki Sidekick. That was a very cool car when it came out too. But then there were thousands of them on the road, and then it wasn't so unique, but I loved that car for a long time. I had it for several years. I drove it at least 30,000 miles in sight seeing around Europe while I was in the military.

I really think people will love this car as much as I do. But I know not everyone will.

My Name is Ron

Hi, my name is Ron and I fell in love with the Smart Car. I decided to write a blog about my car I don't have yet. I currently have a 1994 Ford Ranger with 160,000 miles on it. It's not in good condition. It tends to flood on hot days, and I prey that it start. I'm recently divorced after 25 years. I got this truck in the divorce settlement. My wife got the new car, but that's okay. She takes care of my daughter, and I wanted her to have a safe reliable car to raise my daughter.

I recently moved to West Virginia to take a good job as a system administrator. That was two months ago. Since then, I've purchased a home. No Castle. But a place I can call my own and not have to pay rent.

Since my truck is getting old, I need to look for a new car. I'm not sure I can afford it yet. My friend found an article about the Smart Car. So I looked it up on the web. I found the web page from the company that makes it. They just recently started to take reservations for the car. The reservation is $99. I fell in love with the car. I spent the whole night on You Tube watching videos on the car. I found the videos about crash test the best. Its amazing how the cab of this small car protects its drivers. By the end of the night I decided to reserve my car.

I Picked a Red Passion, with Red Interior, and Black Trim. I didn't pick the color because of all the pictures of the red passion. It seems to be the favorite color for pictures. I picked it because my favorite color is red. My last car was red too. The one my wife got in the divorce.

The reservation process sounds great. The Idea is you pay $99 now and they will contact you at the end of the year, before others will get a chance to buy a car in 2008. But there are concerns. One concern is that it says that they can substitute the color and option. But I ignored it because, they wouldn't sell allot of cars, if they tried to sell cars people didn't want. Also, they don't explain about car loans. But they do talk about requiring a deposit. I think they could use more detail on how the loan process will work, and how you will finance the car. And what if I want my own financing. These are things I will have to find out over time. Good thing the $99 is refundable.
